• WOMEN IN SCIENCE WE ADMIRE

Throughout ICFOnians for Women in Science month you are invited to take part in a special ICFO community activity. Nominate a woman scientist that has inspired you and/or who you believe has had a significant impact on science through her discoveries, enthusiasm, advocacy, and/or leadership.

About

The agenda of ICFOnians for Women in Science Month aims to facilitate productive dialogues that involve all ICFOnians and which support the advancement of complex scientific challenges through the contributions of our broad and inclusive community.

Visibility is important for under-represented groups in science for innumerable reasons. It provides role models and inspiration for future generations. It helps to raise awareness of the need for equal opportunities for women’s participation and leadership in STEM. It also encourages us to purposely recognize high impact work by women, further enabling it to resonate throughout the scientific community.

We invite all ICFOnians to nominate women scientist that have inspired you and/or who you believe have had a significant impact on science through their discoveries, enthusiasm, advocacy, and/or leadership. Nominations will be collected throughout ICFOnians for Women in Science Month.

A committee will curate all nominations received to create an exhibit that will be shared in ICFO’s NEST Hall, through ICFO’s social media channels and also in an online format.

This campaign aims to identify and highlight female role models in science. Likewise, it aims to further increase awareness of important contributions to science by women. By focusing on the positive and inspirational, we aim to communicate our optimism for the future of science where women and men work together equitably in order to uncover new knowledge and put that knowledge to the service of humanity.
