Kirsty Smitten
Quoting from her Twitter: «Co-founder and CEO of MetalloBio, a company developing first-in-class ruthenium antimicrobial compounds». Quoting from the website of the company she cofounded: «A Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellow and co-founder of MetalloBio with a PhD in Chemistry and Microbiology, Kirsty has won several awards for the research underpinning MetalloBio’s technology including the ELRIG Early Career Impact Award and listing in the Forbes 30 Under 30.» She bravely fought cancer while creating an inspiring and touching blog to raise awareness of the journey behind her battle. At the same time, she raise awareness on the scientific mission of her startup, and received several awards for her startup. She was a source of deep inspiration and a wonderful example of female role model in science at academic and industrial level.
