Karen is a person to admire for several aspects, at the scientific and personal level. She cares a lot about her students and colleagues, about transmitting her passion for research and about expanding the frontiers of knowledge, always with attention to detail and correctness. My concept of how a great scientist should be, is largely based on her, not only as a scientist but also as a person.
