Deborah S. Jin
Debbie Jin was a major figure in the field of ultracold atoms, where she pioneered research directions (ultracold Fermi gases, polar molecules) that have become central nowadays. She was also an inspiring lecturer, an incredible mentor, and a good example of how to balance family and work. As a student, I always found her talks and summer school lectures incredibly inspiring and to the point. Unfortunately, she passed away very young, at only 47 years old. We should keep her memory and legacy alife, which is why I nominate her every year.
