Debbie Jin
Debbie Jin was an immense scientist in the field of ultracold atoms.
She pioneered ultracold Fermi gases and of polar molecules, shaping AMO physics to what it is nowadays. At the same time, she was an example of work-life balance, and an amazing teacher and speaker. She was an incredible role model for young scientists: many of her female PhD students and postdocs have moved on to have highly successful careers in academia, and she also inspired many young students around the world including me. Sadly, a cancer took her life way too early. We should never forget her example.
