Francesca Ferlaino
Francesca Ferlaino is an Italian physicist, currently professor at the Universität Innsbruck and at IQOQI in Innsbruck. She is one of the world leaders in the field of ultracold atomic gases. Her career path goes from LENS in Florence, where she made seminal discoveries in the group of Massimo Inguscio, studying KRb mixtures, and Fermi gases. The most important station of Francesca’s scientific career is Innsbruck. She started in the group of Rudi Grimm and Christoph Nägerl, studying Efimov physics (three body physics) and ultracold molecules in their ground states. Later she became a faculty member, focusing on ultracold dipolar gases. Her seminal achievements include condensation of Erbium atoms, observation of roton-maxon effects in dipolar gases, observation of quantum droplets in dipolar gases, and the demonstration of the super solid state. Amazing scientist, teach and animator of the scientific life.
